Jack and his mother had just moved into their new apartment, a place that felt like a fresh start for both of them. The apartment was spacious, with a living room that was a perfect fit for their beloved piano. That evening, Jack and his mother decided to celebrate their new home with a music al evening.
They sat side by side on the piano bench, their fingers dancing over the keys, and created a harmonious blend of jazz melodies. The music was a celebration of their new beginning.
However, the peace of the night was replaced by a note the next morning. A piece of paper had been slipped under their door, a complaint from one of their neighbors about the noise from the piano. The note reminded them that their actions had an impact on others.
In response to this complaint, Jack suggested they write a letter to their neighbors, expressing their apologies for the disturbance. His mother, however, had a different idea.” Why don’t we invite everyone over for a party?” she said.” We can get to know them and show them that we are considerate neighbors.”
Jack’s eyes lit up at the idea. It was a perfect opportunity to connect with their new neighbors. That afternoon, they began to plan the party, carefully selecting invitations, food, and drinks. They wanted it to be a warm and welcoming event that would allow them to introduce themselves to their neighbors and apologize in person.
The day of the party arrived, and their apartment was changed into a lively gathering spot. Neighbors streamed in, each bringing a small gift such as flowers, and homemade desserts. The room was filled with laughter and conversation.
Among the guests was Mrs. Gertrude, an elderly lady who had been the one to leave the note. She approached Jack’s mother with a book of Chopin’s piano music. “I heard you playing the other night.” she admitted,” and the music woke me from my sleep. I was concerned that such beautiful music might. become a nightly event, disturbing my rest. Thet’s why I wrote the note.”

【答案】One possible version:
Touched by Mrs. Gertrude’s honesty and gesture, Jack’s mother smiled warmly. “We should be the ones to apologize,” she said. “We didn’t realize how late it was and the impact our music might have had on you and others. We’ll make sure to play more quietly at night.” Mrs. Gertrude waved off the apology, insisting that she enjoyed the music and just wanted it to be considerate of the late hour. She pointed to the book she had given them, suggesting that the pieces within were not as loud and would be suitable for evening play.
After looking through the book, Jack made a promise.” These songs are indeed beautiful, and we promise to play them softly and considerately.” His mother’s smile grew even wider, pleased with the warmth and acceptance they felt from their new community. As the party continued into the night, Jack and his mother realized that they had indeed found not just a new living space, but a true home. The big smile on his mother’s face, the laughter of their neighbors, and the shared joy of music filled their hearts with a sense of belonging.

Writing 02
It all started when my four- year- old son’s blood test showed tumor (肿瘤) markers. We had to do an MRI (核磁共振), and it was a truly terrible experience as the date approached. When the big day came, it was even worse than I imagined. My little boy held me tightly as nurses instructed me to lay my baby down on the hospital stretcher. He screamed and desperately reached out for me while they put him to sleep using a mask. The nurse explained the procedure would take two hours. I felt hopeless, worried, and guilty for the way I had to help hold him down.
My little boy already suffered from breathing problems when he was sleeping, and the possible future test result was weighing heavily on me, too. I knew I didn’t want to sit in that waiting room. But what else could my mom and I do to get through those next two hours?
We went to the elevator and got off when we saw the cafeteria, where I got a hot cup of coffee. After a cup of coffee and a few minutes of biting my nails, I got up and told my mom, “Let’s go shopping.” I told Mum that I was on a mission to make the next two hours count, doing something worthwhile instead of sitting there worrying. As I was in the gift shop looking for toys for my son, an idea came to me.
So I walked up to the front counter, still teary- eyed, and explained my plan to the young girl working at the cash register. “My little boy is getting an MRI today. So we are just hanging out and waiting here for the next two hours. Would it be okay if we purchased a whole bunch of gifts and sent them upstairs to kids in the hospital? I mean I want to send gifts to random kids in the hospital. Can you just give them to the nurses and let them give it to the kids who need them the most?”
She smiled and gave me a thumbs- up.

【答案】One possible version:
Over the next hour and a half, I filled up all the extra counter space in the store with gifts. I know I looked like a crazy person, and I must have asked the cashier a dozen times to help me with the packing, but she didn’t complain. In fact, she seemed excited and there was a spring in her step as she helped. As I picked out gift after gift, my tears began to dry and I began to smile. A happy peace came over me as I stopped worrying and started doing something worthwhile. I was helping other kids, and their moms, get through their tough days.
As we were paying, my phone rang and my son’s nurse called to say that everything went okay. My son would be in the recovery room soon. Mum and I left the gifts to the girl, stressing that we just wanted to help make the sick kids happy. The girl smiled sweetly and thanked us for our generosity and kindness. Hopefully, I will remember this shopping trip the next time I find myself in the middle of a breakdown. When I shifted my focus to doing something for others, it lifted me far above my own troubles and fears.
