Part 2秘诀（一）：情感似人“手”
人们常被情感掌控，受其制约。而中文中的“掌控”就是来源于“手掌”。于是，情感就可以比喻成一双无形的手，也就非常贴切了。
我们发现：用于手的一些动作可以直接应用于某种情感。这类动作有：
表示“抓住”类的动词：seize, grasp, grip , take hold of
表示“覆盖”：cover
表示“撕成碎片”：tear into pieces
我们来看下面几个例句：
（1）Fear gripped her heart．她心中充满恐惧 。（grip抓住）
（2）Jealousy seized her. 她妒火中烧。（seize抓住）
（3）A wild joy took hold of her. 她十分快乐。
（4）A feeling of panic seized her．她突然惊慌失措。
（5）Anxiety tore her into pieces．她焦虑不安身心憔悴。（tore是tear的过去式，表“撕扯”）
（6）Anger and bitterness covered upon me for weeks．我好几周都沉浸在愤怒和痛苦中。（bitterness是bitter“痛苦的”名词形式）
Part 3秘诀（二) ：情感似对手
汉语里也有类似的说法：“我被什么情绪打败了”。将情感比喻为人的对手，那么人与情感之间的关系仿佛在比赛或斗争。但是汉语中，这种表达中情绪更多是负面情绪，而英文中，则没有这个限制。
我们来看常见的动词有哪些？
被情感对手“击败”。于是，动词通常是get the better of或者get the best of（都表示“胜过”）。
例如浙江2020年1月高考续写文本中就写到：
He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions get the better of him. (他站起来，抱住爸爸妈妈，并露出笑容，努力不让情感控制他。)在这句里，就用到了get the better of 的结构，表示“胜过”。
我们再看几个例子：
（1）Enthusiasm gets the better of me．我太激动了。（enthusiasm热情）
（2）Boredom often gets the best of them．他们常感到非常无聊．（boredom无聊）
（3）His curiosity got the better of him ．他异常好奇，（curiosity好奇心）
Part 4秘诀（三）：情感似压迫者
我们可以控制情感，反过来，情感也可以变得强大，反客为主，成了统治者，压迫者，我们被情感控制。
这是动词可以是：oppress压迫 ，甚至是 deprive (表示剥夺，deprive 通常与of 搭配 )，还可以是 prey（捕猎，折磨）
我们来看下面几个例句：
（1）Worrying deprived him of sleep．他焦虑万分，难以入睡。
（2）Excitement deprived me of all power of speech．我激动得什么话都说不出来。
（3）Astonishment and horror oppressed her．她惊恐不安。（ oppress 压迫）
（4）Anger and bitterness had preyed upon me continually．我感到愤怒和痛苦。（prey本意是“捕猎”，在这里引申为“折磨”。非常形象的表达，“愤怒”和“痛苦”像猎人一样，而“我”成了猎物，不就是我被这两种情绪折磨着吗？）
Part 5秘诀（四）：情感似动物
情感也会有动物的一些特点，会悄无声息地“爬”到你身边，即用动词crawl／creep（爬），有时还会咬(gnaw)、吞噬(swallow/swallow)你。
例如 ：
（1）Happiness crawls up to the tips of his brows．他喜上眉梢。（字面意思是“幸福爬到他的眉毛尖”）
（2）A slight feeling of fear slowly crept on him．他慢慢感到一丝恐惧。（crept是creep过去式，意思是“爬”）
（3）Self-doubt began to gnaw away at her confidence. 自我怀疑正在蚕食她的自信心。
（4）Fear swallowed her. 她非常惊恐。（字面意思是“恐惧吞掉了我”，是不是很形象？）
Part 6秘诀（五）：情感似光线
有人说：“积极的心态像太阳，照到哪里哪里亮；消极的心态像月亮，初一十五不一样。”所以说，情感和光线变化密切相关。我们也有这种生活体验在sunny (晴朗) 的天气，人们会感到开朗高兴，情感像光一样散发（radiate）与传播（spread across），而在cloudy (阴云密布)或者dark (光线晦暗)则让人心情阻塞、郁闷不快。例如：
（1）Joy shone from his brow．他喜上眉梢。
（2）Happiness radiates from her face. 荣光换发。（radiate发散，发光）
（3）Smile spread across his face. 他满脸笑容。
当然还有用“人或物”作主语的
（4）She has been in a dark mood this week．她这周心情一直不好。（ a dark mood 用黑暗来形容心情mood，当然是“心情不好”。）
（5）His face clouded over when he heard the news．听了这个消息，他满脸愁云。（这个句子把云cloud这个名词当做动词用，over覆盖，cloud over这个词组把“乌云密布”这种形象就表现出来了）
Part 7秘诀（六）：情感似重担
在中文中，我们有时候说某种负面情绪的时候，可以这么表达“很压抑，压得我喘不过气来”，这里的“压”显示出，在描写情感时候，赋予它重量感。英文也是如此：
忧虑 、悲伤、愤怒等消极情感犹如重担bear on (压在⋯上面)，需要人们carry(承受), 而这些情感负担的unburden(卸去)、lose(失去)则会让人感到轻松、获得解脱。例如：
（1）Grief bears heavily on her．她承受着悲伤的巨大压力。
还有以“人”作主语的：
（2）He was burdened with worries 他心事重重。（burden装在，负重。非常有意思是，在汉语中，“心事重重”中的“重”是一个多音字，也读zhong,“负重”的“重”。）
（3）The manager carried his anger．经理怒火冲冲。
（4）After I lost my temper，I felt lighter．发脾气之后，我感到轻松多了。（ lost my temper字面意思好像是“失去了脾气”，其实就是情绪失控，发脾气）
（5）Unburdening herself of her anger gave her a sense of relief．释放了怒火后，她感到一种解脱。（第二个例子中提到了burden装在，负重，加上了否定前缀un，意思为“卸去负担”）
Part 8秘诀（七）：情感似液体
在汉语中，如果用一个成语来形容两个人感情很好，我们可以用“水乳交融”，水和乳都是液体。同样的道理，在英语中，情感也常常被比作液体。
常见的名词有：波纹（ripple）或wave(波浪)或flood (洪流)，
常见的动词有：涌出（well up），surge(涌动 )甚至sweep (冲；卷 )，有时fill／brim/take possession of (注满／盛满 / 占满 )容器，有时overflow／well(漫出／溢出)容器，在高温下甚至会boil(沸腾) .
我们来看下面的例句：
（1）Panic surged up within him ．他惶恐不安。（surge涌起，字面的意思是“恐惧在他身体里涌起”）
（2）The terrible scene filled her with fear．恐怖的场景使她十分害怕。
（3）A wave of panic swept over her．一阵惊恐袭上她的心头。
（4）The loneliness and grief comes in waves. 阵阵孤独与痛苦袭上心头。
当然还有用“人”做主语的：
（1）His heart is overflowing with joy．他满怀喜悦。
（2）I could feel anger boiling up inside me．我感到怒火中烧。（字面意思是：“愤怒”已经“boil沸腾了”）
（3）He was brimming with sorrow when she left him ．她离开他时，他满怀悲伤。（brim是“边缘”的意思，作动词表示“溢出”。悲伤这种情绪从内心溢出来了。）
现在我们把学到的表达用到作文中，我们用的是2020年新高考全国卷，即山东卷。讲述的是：卖爆米花方法救助穷人的故事。
【情境一】Mrs. Meredith 听了孩子们“卖爆米花”的主意之后，感到很满意，为孩子们的善良机智而骄傲。我们可以这样写：
A wave of satisfaction and pride surged up inside Mrs. Meredith as John explained his idea.当约翰解释他的想法时，梅雷迪思太太心中涌起了一股满足感和自豪感。(这句话就把骄傲与满足之感比喻成液体)
【情境二】当John 找到贫困小男孩Bernard，并向他说了帮助他赚钱的主意之后，Bernard十分感动。
After Bernard learned about John’s idea, gratitude obviously got the better of this poor boy, and moistened his eyes.在伯纳得知约翰的想法后，非常感动，他的眼睛湿润了。（这句话里，把感激比喻成对手，Bernard忍不住感动而流泪。）
Part 9情绪描写微技能训练
一：微技能一（表示感到害怕frightened）
表示害怕的词/词组：
frightened; panicked; scared; speechless; in (a) panic; in a cold sweat; be full of fear; be filled with terror; be rooted to the spot; freeze; run away; flee; one’s knees feel weak; (hands) sweat;
例句：当看到那只凶恶的狼时，我感到很害怕。

Summer vacation was coming. Jack and his brother Berlin were filled with excitement as they thought of visiting their grandparents again.
The big day came at last. After the happy family got ready, they set out for the grandparents’ eagerly. On the way, the brothers were excitedly talking about the fun they had with grandparents.
A little blue house with a tall white chimney finally appeared. Behind the property was the forest carrying their good memories with Grandpa. They arrived at the driveway, at the end of which Grandma was waiting for them joyfully.
Jack and Berlin each gave Grandma a big hug and then swept to the living room, shouting excitedly “Grandpa, we are back!”
Seeing his grandsons, Grandpa was wild with joy and tried to get up with all his strength from the chair but in vain. A helpless expression flashed on his face. Grandma explained that his health was declining rapidly and maybe couldn’t stand up on his own forever. But Grandpa declared stubbornly (倔强地), “I can!” Certainly, he was stuck in his boyish way. Mum and grandparents were happy to meet again after a long time. They sat together and chatted about what happened recently.
The brothers were soon bored with adult conversation, went out and wandered into the forest. Tall trees stretched up to the heavens with large branches crossing each other, while young ones rose straight like soldiers. Grandpa was once a great explorer full of wisdom. He could tell where the birds came from only by their calls and songs. The trees, birds, lizards, lots of bugs...How many merry moments they spent with Grandpa in the kingdom!

He held the cane in his right hand and the arm of his chair in his left hand. He stood up with strength on his legs. Everyone was surprised and excited to see grandpa stand up. After I got the "all clear'' from my orthopedist I was going to get to work. Practices were going to start in two weeks and I was determined to get back on the court. My hunger for success made me play and work out for two hours even day before the season. Through practices, I would hit the gym and try to build up the strength that I had before the injury.

My hard work proved to be very effective. I had the most successful season of my career. I made it to the finals. Although I truly wanted to win, I knew that it was a great accomplishment for me to be in that position even not in the first place. The injury was almost a good thing because I proved to myself that I am capable of achieving goals that I strive for, through hard work of course. That season was by far the most rewarding season of my career. I felt so accomplished at the end of the season. Hard work always pays off.
