读写结合:如何用英语描写一场足球赛?

2021年深圳一模的读后续写试题要求考生使用英语描写一场足球比赛(主要是带球突破和完成射门进球),这个写作任务对于高三学生,甚至对于高中英语老师,都很不容易。范文中出现的主题词汇dribble (带球突破)也是高考考纲3500以外的词汇。

今天是个下雨天,下午在家陪孩子读书。女儿今天阅读的书是《神奇的树屋》第二季“梅林传奇”的第24本。书的封面长这样:

在书的“后记”部分,作者Mary Pope Osborne坦言,这本书是因为足球作为一种运动非常受欢迎,是世界各地的足球爱好者写信要求她创作的一个故事。

在这本书中,跨时空旅行的姐姐Annie和弟弟Jack并没有直接会面球王贝利,但是借助贝利的一个粉丝Roberto之口告诉和启发读者:人伟大的一个秘诀--热情(enthusiasm)

在这本书的第8章“Game of a Lifetime”, 作者为我们描述了一场精彩的足球比赛,里面含有大量与足球比赛有关的话题语言,我梳理整理如下:
1. They took forward position on Miguel's team.

2. The referee on the dusty sideline blew a whistle, and the second half of the match began.

3. The kicker on Diego's team tapped the ball to her teammate, who passed it to Diego.

4. But then suddenly Annie slipped in and stole the ball from them. She whacked it with her instep, passing it to Jack, who slid it to Roberto. 

5. Roberto began moving the ball down the field. As Diego's defenders moved in, Roberto changed pace from slow to fast, slow to fast. The ball seemed glued to his feet, until he fired a shot and drove it like a missile into the net.

6. "Score!" shouted the referee.  

"Goal!" Jack, Annie, and Roberto shouted, pushing the air with their fists. All the other players gasped in amazement.

7. Like lightning, Jack moved in and shot the ball through the air to Roberto. Roberto used his thigh to pop the ball to Annie. Annie stopped the ball with her foot and dribbled it past two defenders down the field, then passed it to Jack. Jack moved the ball backward, forward, and sideways with short taps of his feet. Jack saw Roberto across the field and kicked the ball to him, passing it over the heads of the defenders. Roberto gave the ball a leaping header, sending it to Annie. Annie trapped the ball on the ground, then ran with it, keeping it close. She faked a move one way, then another, then kicked the ball backward to Roberto. Roberto delivered another perfect shot into the net. “Score!” “Gooooaaaallll!!!!” Jack, Annie, and Roberto shouted, pumping the air with their fists.

8.  The goalie kicked the ball back into play. The opposing side started the ball down the muddy field, but Jack moved faster-he intercepted it and passed it to Annie. Annie sent the ball back to Roberto, who scooped his foot under the ball and popped it over a group of players, right to Jack. Jack outjumped two defenders and hit the ball with his chest, sending it down the field. Roberto sped after the ball, stole it from two players, and gave it a swift kick-right into the net.

“Gooooaaaallll!!!!” Jack, Annie, and Roberto shouted, pumping the air with their fists.

“Gooooaaaallll!!!!” echoed the kids on Miguel’s team and Diego's team! All the players seemed to be enjoying the work of the Beautiful Team of Jack, Annie, and Roberto.

As the game went on everyone was playing really well. But Diego’s players were no match for Jack, Annie, and Roberto.The three of them were like a goal-scoring machine.

Hearing the shouting and cheering from the soccer game, people left their porches and yards and hurried over to see the match.

The spectators watched Jack, Annie, and Roberto move like dancers, making low free kicks, long-range kicks, and leaping headers. They watched them hit the ball with their right and left feet, their foreheads, and their chests, stomachs, and thighs. They watched them dribble the ball down the field by tapping it with both feet, and send knuckleballs zigzagging across the dirt into the net.

In the final seconds of the game, everyone watched Jack execute a perfect bicycle kick. Like an acrobat, he threw his legs up in the air and kicked an overhead ball to Annie, who sent it on to Roberto, who shot it past the goalie into the net! “Score!” All the spectators, all the players, and even the referee pumped their fists in the air and screamed,“Gooooaaaallll!”

9. Then the referee blew the final whistle. "Game over!" he shouted. There was a huge roar from the spectators.

上面的选段告诉我们,要想成功描写一场足球比赛,我们首先要搭建思维的支架:我们既要描写运动员和裁判员的动作,也要描述对手和观众的情绪反应。从语言的角度说:我们需要学会表达这些与踢足球相关的术语:抢断(slip in and steal the ball or intercept),传球(tap the ball to...; pass the ball to...; slide the ball to...),带球突破(dribble),长传 (make long-range kicks; pop the ball over to sb.; shoot the ball through the air),停球 (trap or stop the ball with one's foot),胸部停球(hit the ball with one's chest),远射(fire a shot),射门(score a goal; deliver a shot into the net),头球攻门 (give the ball a leaping header),倒挂金钩 (execute a perfect bicycle kick),挥舞手臂和尖叫庆祝进球 (pump the air with one's fists or pump one's fists in the air and scream),the audience gasped in amazement这些与足球比赛相关的话题语言是不可或缺的(indispensible),否则,我们将无法进行准确的写作,精彩传神的描写更无从谈起。

上面的举例启发老师和学生:a good reader makes a good writer. 老师和学生都要有时间读书,要广泛地阅读,如果没有阅读,没有模仿写作,没有读写结合,以用促学,好的写作是不可能的事情。
